A mobile app concept that raises alcohol awareness among young adults by scanning bottles to log drinks and totalling the week as data rather than warnings.
Overview
Situation
Young adults tend to underestimate how much they drink, not because the information is hidden but because it is never totalled. A night out is counted in rounds, not in units, and there is no moment where the number is presented back.
Task
Design a mobile app that raises low alcohol consumption awareness by tracking drinking activity and showing it back as data, in a way that informs rather than lectures.
Action
I designed SAFE Sora around three ideas: make logging almost free, make the total visible, and reward the behaviour rather than punish it.
- Scanning replaces typing. Point the camera at a bottle to log a drink, or enter a code by hand.
- Reports total the week. A bar chart across the week sits above a table of brands, alcohol percentage, and quantity, so the abstract question of "how much do I drink" has a number attached.
- Reminders carry safety messages at the moment they matter: do not drive, let peers or family take you home, check your health, and a live count when the session reaches a third can.
- Points and coupons track redeemable progress per brand, which gives a reason to keep logging.
The palette is deep green and warm yellow, chosen to read as health rather than nightlife.
Result
A design that treats drinking data the way a fitness app treats steps: neutral, visible, and totalled, so the awareness comes from the number rather than from a warning.
